Whether it’s showing that your technology investments are supporting the business, or developing a set of plans that are properly prioritised, costed and aligned, it is the technology vision and strategy that joins the technology in your business to the rest of the organisation and ensures that it supports what the business is trying to achieve.
It starts at the top – questions such as: What is the business trying to achieve? How it will it get there? When will it get there? When will it know that it has got there? What might stop it from happening? Then it’s a question of understanding what the technology can do to help make that happen, what’s it going to look like, how will it work, who’s going to do which bit, which bits have you already got, what’s fit for purpose and what isn’t, and what bits are missing.
And then of course the easy part – making it all happen…
